June 5, 2005
In spite of the blistering heat from the sun LIME Motorsport made an impressive showing at the SCCA Autocross at the Nassau Colliseum on June 5, 2005. Competing in HSP (class H Street Prepared) was Bob Rath in his Mini Pickup, Frank Kraweicki, Al Diamanti, and Ray Maramara competed in EP (class E Prepared). The intense heat made Bob decide it would be cooler at the beach so he took off after 3 runs. Frank retired after 4 runs due to a failed limited slip differential. Fresh from a couple week's vacation, Al was fine tuning the suspension and nursing a failed auxiliary radiator fan. Ray made progressively better times and ended up with the best time of the Minis, and within 1 sec. from the class winner - a highly modified Toyota Corolla. The SCCA guys said "no more novice for you..." as they handed Ray the trophy at the awards.
This Event drew more than 120 competitors and had an excellent very long course with lap times in the 60 second range for the Best Time of the Day car to more than 90 seconds for the slower classes. LIME had 5 Minis competing and 6 more LIMENYs spectating and supporting. Mini times were very respectable in the 70 seconds range and this Event was great fun for LIMENYs and everyone else.
